Seven Beckett Rankine designed 'Dockmaster' pontoons have been installed
in Falmouth as a berth for 60m long Hunt class minesweepers. The berth
is required while the vessels are undergoing a major refit which
includes engine replacement. An important requirement was that the
pontoons should have a very low magnetic signature; this was achieved by
removing the steel bollards from the berthing face of the pontoons and
attaching the ships' mooring lines direct to shore bollards instead. These are the first Dockmaster pontoons to be manufactured with precast deck units. The Dockmaster pomtoon website can be found here.
